On my own for now…

My relationship with the Left Bank Gallery has sadly ended. It is a beautiful space and although my work looked nice hanging in it, it just didn’t sell. Hopefully, as I pursue other opportunities, I’ll find a better fit. Until then, I’ll be posting new work right here for all to see and enjoy! Look for an updated gallery as well.

Back to work!

Here are some shots from the walls of the Brewster Ladies Library. I’ve had a quiet summer of painting and rest and am now back to teaching.

Show Preview!

Here’s another new painting to be featured at the Brewster Ladies Library from July 1st – 15th. It’s called L’Inverno or Winter and is me at my wildest and most expressive. Hope to see you all on Friday the 3rd for a small reception from 5 – 7 pm.

My First Painting @ PAAM

This is the first painting I have ever shown in Provincetown and the first @ PAAM. I hope to have more paintings there in the future, but it’s a start!  The show is called “Yellow” and runs thru 5/24.

Solo Exhibition!

Dan will be having a solo exhibition of NEW LANDSCAPES at the Brewster Ladies Library from JULY 1 – 15, 2009.

An Opening Reception will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, July 3rd. For Library hours, please call 508: 896-3913.

Work @ Museum!

Two of my newest paintings will be on view @ the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA from Jan 10-Feb 22, 2009 as part of a group show entitled, “Teaching Art / Creating Art”  presenting the work of 30 active artist/educators. The opening reception will be on January 22, from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Hope to see you there! Here are previews of the two paintings!

More about Klimt

So I never got back to talking about the Klimt show! Seeing his Atelier re-created along with his blue painting caftan + a picture of him in it holding his cat, really gave me a sense of his personality. His line drawings are simply some of the best I’ve ever seen and the transitions he made from observation to designed painting is fascinating to witness in his sketches and sketchbooks! I am so much more a fan now than I ever was, but I find that many retrospectives offer a view of an artist that the art history books rarely provide. All for now
